2008 Citizen of the Year
Chelsea's 2008 Citizen of the Year is Sheila Morrison-Patrias, who established a Washtenaw County branch of Ele's Place. This is a wonderful organization that helps children and their families deal with grief.

Citizen of the Year: Sheila Morrison-Patrias was awarded this year's Citizen of the Year Award for her tireless efforts to establish Ele's Place, a healing center for grieving children. The non-profit community-based organization serves Chelsea, Dexter, Ann Arbor, Manchester and greater Washtenaw County. Sheila's fundraising abilities, leadership recruitment, and community outreach have raised nearly $500,000 in gifts and pledges. In May, 2007, Ele's Place launched programming for the children of Chelsea and throughout Washtenaw County.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Art Dils, who has spent many years highly involved in the community and local causes.

2008 Lifetime Acheivement Award: Art Dils is among those special people whose professional and volunteer contributions over a long period of time have helped make Chelsea the great community it is today. His numerous volunteer positions include Board Member and Pres. of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, Pres. of Chelsea School District Board of Education, Chelsea Community Hospital Board Trustee, Huron Valley Ambulance Board, and many other Board positions and community committees.
